The lens is essentially for photographers and filmmakers who enjoy the experience of taking a picture just as much as the quality of the final result.

Sigma 35mm f/2 DG Contemporary Lens Silver for L Mount in More Detail
All-Metal Construction
In addition to its high-quality build, the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary Silver weighs just 325g, so it’s a great choice for anyone who requires a rugged lens but doesn’t want added size of the premium Art series. An all-metal casing includes the barrel, the aperture ring, the focus ring, and the lens hood, which all have a tactile knurled finish and are precision-machined in aluminium.
Aperture and focus rings both rotate smoothly and consistently, and give a satisfying, responsive feel. The lens also includes a separate aperture ring in Auto mode and a weather-sealed mount for confidence when shooting in changeable weather conditions.
A magnetic metal lens cap is also provided along with the standard plastic cap, and the optional magnetic lens cap holder accessory is available to keep your cap in place securely on a bag or strap while in use on the lens.
Exceptional Optical Quality in a Small Package
Optimised to work on high-resolution sensors, the 35mm f/2 DG DN features 10 elements in 9 groups, of which three are aspheric and one is an SLD (Special Low Dispersion) element. This optical design prevents chromatic aberration, provides edge-to-edge sharpness, and suppresses ghosting and flaring when shooting into light sources. Vignetting is well controlled, even when shooting wide-open at f/2.
A Creative Slightly Wide Prime Lens
The large f/2 maximum aperture allows the lens to create a shallow depth of field more easily and separate subjects, while creating silky, soft background blur. Bokeh is rendered cleanly, with rounded, even transitions, thanks to an 11-bladed diaphragm. Its wide aperture is also useful in low-light situations, and perfect for handheld shooting at events, weddings, or in the street, while mitigating the need to use a high ISO or slow shutter speeds.
Lightweight but Very Effective
Measuring just 65.4mm long and weighing only 325g, this lens provides a great deal of the image quality of the , but in a considerably smaller and lighter body. Although the f/1.4 model provides a larger aperture and greater sophistication, this Contemporary version is a great alternative when weight and convenience come first, while not compromising on build quality.
Part of the Contemporary series
This lens is one of the lenses in the Sigma’s Contemporary series of compact, which are high-quality primes especially for mirrorless cameras. They have a uniform optical character, look, and feel, and so it’s perfect to use the lenses in a set together. Each renders similar bokeh, colour, and design as expected by the photographer, even when shooting at different focal lengths.
