The  continues to grow with this Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 lens,which has been designed by Panasonic as one of four common-sized optics for L-mount mirrorless cameras. Weighing in at just 300g. the 50mm standard prime is well suited to a wide range of subjects from portraits to landscapes, general purpose shooting and also excels for video. Lumix full frame lenses feature complex optics to ensure high quality results, with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing off videographers. Smooth exposure changes can also be made with a micro-step aperture control, maintaining professional quality video for which  are known.

Nine lens elements in eight groups include three aspherical lenses, one ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra-High Refractive Index). Combined these result in excellent sharpness, with well suppressed chromatic aberration in all sorts of shooting situations.

Those who shoot at close range get a minimum focal distance of 0.45m, which allows a decent level of close-up compositions at a 0.14x magnification. This does allow for another layer of versatility when capturing details or more abstract shots which a lens of this nature affords.
