Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR Lens Summary
With an equivalent full-frame focal length of 85mm, the next generation Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR lens features high resolution glass with an advanced optical design to deliver premium short telephoto images. Whether you capture portraits, weddings or any other creative subjects, the fast f/1.2 aperture with rounded 11-blade opening delivers precise control over depth of field and near perfect round bokeh.
The optical design complements the 40 megapixel , which was released at the same time as this , for aberration-free results, which are packed with detail. Fujifilm’s DC autofocus motor has been modified to reduce friction, resulting in quick and accurate AF, while manual focus has also been improved making it easier to achieve accurate focus with this prime lens. Those shooting outdoors benefit from extensive weather sealing and protection from dust and moisture, together with an easy maintenance fluorine-coated front element.
Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR Lens in More Detail
Exceptional image quality
Fuji’s XF56mmF1.2 R WR lens includes 13 elements arranged into eight groups, with one ED and two aspherical elements. Technology from  has been incorporated in the focusing group to minimise chromatic, spherical, and comatic aberrations. This helps to reduce light bleed in the highlights, as well as enhancing image quality and detail in the process.
Beautiful bokeh from an 11-bladed circular aperture
This is Fujifilm’s first lens to feature an 11-bladed aperture design, which results in a clean, almost perfectly circular aperture, even when shooting at f/4 or f/5.6. Minimal aberrations and distractions are created, which is especially pleasing throughout out of focus areas in the image, ensuring the XF56mmF1.2 R WR stands head and shoulders above the competition.
Images show an unmatched level of clarity and detail with wonderfully smooth bokeh when shooting with a shallow depth of field. Busy backgrounds melt away from their subjects and create an isolating effect that cannot be emulated or replicated by other lenses for . The fast aperture allows you to gather light even in dark situations, which is particularly effective when combined with IBIS, which is found in the latest camera bodies.
Optimised handling supports creators
The aperture ring on the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR lens features a lock to prevent accidental movement of the aperture ring, while also enabling control of the lens’s aperture setting through using a command dial on an X Series camera body.
Manual focus control has also been optimised for simpler accurate MF, which is particularly useful when making images with an extremely shallow depth-of-field. The DC autofocus motor has also been modified to reduce friction, resulting in focus being achieved quickly and accurately.
Continue shooting in all conditions
The XF 56mm f/1.2 lens includes nine rubber seals keeping it well protected from dust and moisture ingression, and allows you to shoot in temperatures as low as -10°C. The fluorine-coated front element, repels water, fingerprints and other marks helping to reduce maintenance requirements while keeping image quality high.
